Description

What kind of wine is it

Alexis Lichine Cremant de Bordeaux Brut is a sparkling wine that captivates with its intense golden colour and fine, elegant perlage. Created from a blend of Semillon and Cabernet Franc, it fully expresses the character of its region. Made using the Traditional Method, it offers an expressive bouquet where aromas of yellow-fleshed fruit, green apple and citrus intertwine with fresh notes of brioche and bread crust. On the palate, it is balanced and dry, characterised by a subtle minerality that accompanies a clean and pleasantly refreshing finish.

Where does it come from

This wine originates from the enchanting area of Entre-deux-Mers, located in the heart of the renowned Bordeaux region. The area, nestled between the Dordogne and Garonne rivers, provides optimal climatic conditions for sparkling the local grapes. Through the vision of Alexis Lichine, the wine becomes a spokesperson for the Cremant de Bordeaux designation, offering an authentic expression of the French terroir. A distinctive character that fully enhances the unique features and history of this fascinating river landscape.

How is it produced

The process begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes. The first fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature to preserve the primary aromas. Subsequently, the prise de mousse strictly follows the Traditional Method, with the second fermentation in the bottle and ageing for nine months before disgorgement. This slow maturation enhances the wine's natural freshness. At the table, it proves to be a versatile companion, perfect for pairing with fresh oysters, shellfish, fish starters and soft cheeses.

History and Curiosities

Alexis Lichine signs a prestigious Crémant de Bordeaux AOC, born in the vibrant heart of Entre-deux-Mers, between the banks of the Dordogne and the Garonne. This refined sparkling wine embodies the true essence of the Traditional Method, maturing in the bottle for nine months. The balanced blend of Sémillon and Cabernet Franc offers splendid golden reflections and remarkable longevity. Careful vinification ensures a fine and elegant perlage, enhancing enveloping notes of brioche that harmoniously blend with a delicate minerality and fresh notes of yellow-fleshed fruit.

From this winery
We are in Bordeaux, at the end of the 1950s, in one of the town’s best restaurants. Alexis Lichine is standing surrounded by the greatest Bordeaux wine merchants and winemakers, focussed on the glass in his hand. The test is to guess the estate and the year of the precious liquid. A challenge that even the greatest connoisseurs fear.

Alexis Lichine concentrates and by its colour identifies it as an old wine. The bouquet, subtle with fragrances of forest undergrowth, fruits and cedar wood, very probably indicates a Médoc.
