Description

What kind of wine it is

L’Um Bianco by Lungarotti is a still white wine from Umbria that combines the character of Vermentino with the structure typical of Chardonnay. In the glass, it displays a bright straw yellow colour enriched with delicate greenish highlights. The aromatic profile is fragrant and well-defined, with notes of white flowers, hazelnut and fresh fruit such as peach, green apple and citrus. On the palate, it reveals a medium body and a harmonious sip, supported by a pleasant citrus acidity that ensures excellent drinkability and a long, persistent finish.

Where it comes from

This blend originates from the vineyards of Torgiano cultivated by Lungarotti. The vines grow on medium-textured soils, deep and with a marked clay component, ideal elements for giving the wine a balanced structure and a well-defined flavour profile. The plants are trained using the spurred cordon and Guyot methods, following environmentally friendly viticultural practices. Harvesting takes place in mid-September, the perfect timing to capture the maximum aromatic expression of the grapes while preserving their natural freshness.

How it is produced

The production process begins by using only the finest free-run must. This is followed by a brief cryomaceration, essential for precisely extracting the aromatic precursors while maintaining their purity. Vinification continues at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks, with temperatures kept strictly low and constant. Before bottling, the wine undergoes a period of ageing on fine lees, which enriches its structure, giving greater roundness to the palate and enhancing the union between the varieties.

History and Curiosities

The name of this blend originates from the initials of “L’Umbria”, celebrating the unbreakable bond with Torgiano and the historic Lungarotti estate. The label is adorned with the “Satyr”, an elegant eighteenth-century drawing kept at the Wine Museum. Founded by Giorgio Lungarotti and now led by Maria Grazia, Chiara and Teresa, the company champions female excellence, boasting among its ranks one of the first Italian female oenologists. This legacy is combined with sustainable viticulture, promoting research projects for a production close to nature.
