Description
What kind of wine it is
The Pinot Grigio by J. Hofstätter is a still white wine that elegantly expresses the character of Alto Adige. In the glass, it displays a bright straw yellow colour, enriched by characteristic coppery highlights. On the nose, it reveals a fruity aromatic profile, where clear notes of pear stand out, wrapped in a fine and alluring texture. On the palate, it is well-structured, balanced by a pleasant softness and a fresh acidic streak. The sip finishes with a delicate spiciness and a savoury, mineral finish of excellent persistence. Vinified in steel, it is a versatile white, ideal for accompanying vegetarian dishes, light Mediterranean cuisine or seafood starters.
Where it comes from
The Pinot Grigio grapes come from sloping vineyards located near the historic headquarters of J. Hofstätter in Termeno, on the Wine Road. The rows benefit from optimal exposure and constant ventilation, key factors for the health and development of the vine. The roots sink into marly, light soils that tend to warm up quickly, favouring perfect ripening of the bunches. These specific pedoclimatic conditions define the wine's identity, giving it the typical savoury imprint and the aromatic richness that makes this area unique.
How it is produced
The vinification process begins with careful destemming and gentle pressing of the bunches, followed by clarification of the must through natural decantation. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, a choice aimed at preserving the integrity of the fruit's primary aromas. The subsequent stabilisation phase and ageing in steel are also designed to maintain the acidic tension and olfactory finesse, ensuring a clean, dry and harmonious sip. It is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 8 and 12 °C to fully appreciate its nuances.
