Description

What type of wine it is

Pinot Grigio Franz Haas is a still white wine from Trentino-Alto Adige with an intense straw-yellow colour, an authentic expression of the Vigneti delle Dolomiti, fermented in steel and small barrels and aged on the lees. On the nose, it reveals a floral aromatic profile with notes of acacia, hay and sage, enhanced by delicate nuances of almond and sandalwood. With evolution in the bottle, the bouquet is further enriched, developing clear hints of linden and honey. On the palate, it stands out for its pleasant freshness, offering a refined and elegant sip that maintains great smoothness throughout the tasting.

Where it comes from

The Pinot Grigio grapes are grown in vineyards located between the mid and high hills in Trentino-Alto Adige, at an altitude between 350 and 800 metres above sea level. The vines, cultivated using the Guyot system, benefit from south and south-west exposures which favour a balanced ripening of the clusters. The soils are deep and rich, characterised by a matrix of clay and silt formed through the erosion of the mountains above. This peculiar combination of altitude, slope and soil composition gives the wine a remarkable aromatic precision and a clear sensation of cleanliness on the palate.

How it is produced

Vinification involves the temperature-controlled fermentation of the must, carried out predominantly in stainless steel tanks, while a small portion ferments in small barrels. At the end of this phase, the wine is aged for about four months on its own lees, a fundamental technique to support its structure while preserving the composure of the flavour profile. Served at a temperature between 12 and 14 °C, this white proves particularly versatile at the table. It pairs ideally with first courses, risottos and grains, equally enhancing vegetarian cuisine and grilled white meats.

Since the beginning, we work to express in the best possible way the quality of the wines we produce. The winery was founded in 1880 and has been passed down through eight generations to the first-born child of the family, who has the honour and responsibility of carrying the same name, Franz.

Franz Haas is not just a winery, it is not just a brand. Franz Haas is a man, a family who has been producing wine for seven generations, and for seven generations has put into its wines the same philosophy of life: the constant and endless pursuit of perfection. Each Franz Haas with his own touch and style.

According to Franz Haas, science and calculations are indeed necessary to obtain superb wines, but it is love, passion, and determination that are essential to give them character and complexity.

It takes art, the one you have in your blood, a loving creative genius, like the one of Franz Haas VII, who today leads the winery with his team.
