Description

What type of wine it is

Franz Haas Gewürztraminer is a still aromatic white wine produced in Trentino-Alto Adige under the Alto Adige Denominazione di Origine Controllata. Vinified in stainless steel tanks and aged on the lees, its intense golden yellow colour reveals a complex aromatic profile with hints of rose, lychee, orange peel and sweet spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, offering a freshness and vivacity that perfectly balance the richness of the sip. The tasting concludes with a very persistent finish, characterised by a typical and pleasant bitter nuance.

Where it comes from

Production originates from vineyards located in the municipalities of Montagna, Gleno, Pinzano and Mazzon, within the Alto Adige territory. The vines grow between 350 and 650 metres above sea level with optimal south-west exposure, which encourages the perfect ripening of the grapes. The deep, clayey soils, carefully selected by Franz Haas, are distinguished by a significant presence of rock fragments and pebbles. These pedoclimatic factors enhance the intensity of the aromas, giving the wine a clean taste structure and a distinct territorial fidelity.

How it is produced

Vinification begins with a brief skin maceration, a fundamental technique for extracting and intensifying the aromatic imprint of the grape variety. The subsequent low-temperature fermentation in stainless steel tanks preserves the integrity of the aromas and freshness. Finally, the wine matures on its lees for about six months with frequent bâtonnage. This technique provides volume and an enveloping texture, giving life to a dry, harmonious white with long-lasting charm.

Since the beginning, we work to express in the best possible way the quality of the wines we produce. The winery was founded in 1880 and has been passed down through eight generations to the first-born child of the family, who has the honour and responsibility of carrying the same name, Franz.

Franz Haas is not just a winery, it is not just a brand. Franz Haas is a man, a family who has been producing wine for seven generations, and for seven generations has put into its wines the same philosophy of life: the constant and endless pursuit of perfection. Each Franz Haas with his own touch and style.

According to Franz Haas, science and calculations are indeed necessary to obtain superb wines, but it is love, passion, and determination that are essential to give them character and complexity.

It takes art, the one you have in your blood, a loving creative genius, like the one of Franz Haas VII, who today leads the winery with his team.
