Description

What kind of wine it is

Alta Langa Cinquecento Brut by Vite Colte is a Traditional Method sparkling wine with a broad profile, produced in Piedmont through a meticulous blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It displays a bright straw yellow colour and a fine, persistent perlage. On the nose, it offers a bouquet of exotic fruit, citrus and white flowers, enriched by hints of bread crust and toasted hazelnut. On the palate, it reveals a dense texture, balanced by a lively freshness and excellent acidity, ensuring an elegant and long-lasting finish.

Where it comes from

This sparkling wine originates from the enchanting landscapes of the Alta Langa in Piedmont. The vineyards benefit from an altitude between five hundred and six hundred metres, ideal for providing the grapes with perfect thermal balance. The soils, of marine sedimentary origin, predominantly calcareous and characterised by alternating marl and sandy layers, give the wine a clear taste sensation. This specific soil composition imparts a marked structural elegance and encourages the development of a broad sensory profile, perfect when served between six and eight degrees.

How it is produced

Production begins with manual harvesting, followed by separate vinification in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. During the cold season, the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay rest and clarify on the lees. In spring, the wines are blended harmoniously and prepared for the second fermentation. Following the principles of the Traditional Method, the wine undergoes lees ageing for at least thirty months, developing complex aromas. The process concludes with disgorgement and a further period of rest, which defines its final structure.

History and Curiosities

Originating from Piedmont, the Alta Langa Brut DOCG “Cinquecento” by Vite Colte enhances the prestige of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes grown at an altitude of 500-600 metres. The meticulous manual harvesting in crates precedes vinification according to the Traditional Method, completed by 30 months of ageing on the lees. The glass comes alive with a fine perlage, releasing aromas of exotic fruit, toasted hazelnut and bread crust. On the palate, it captivates with lively freshness and a dense, creamy texture, offering a long, aromatic finish that is both refined and elegant.

From this winery
  • Start up year: 2016
  • Oenologist: Bruno Cordero
  • Bottles produced: 1.200.000
  • Hectares: 300
Inaugurated in 2000, the winery is situated below the most prestigious Barolo cru vineyards and the architectural design has been reviewed by numerous modern architecture magazines. Attention to new technologies and a philological study of the territory which gives the Langhe its specificity and identity, were paramount in the mind of Gianni Arnaudo, the architect responsible for designing the winery.

Vite Colte is made up of people who strongly believe in a shared concept of quality, where the responsibility of individuals is an integral part of the final result. Winegrowers, partners, friends. The members of ViteColte are "accomplices" in a project that demands dedication to quality which is every bit as strict as the protocols implemented in its pursuit. Every winegrower is remunerated on the basis of the size of the vineyard and not the quantity of product, in order to obtain the highest level of quality.
