Description
What kind of wine it is
Ludi Offida Rosso by Velenosi is a still red wine that powerfully expresses the character of the Offida appellation in the Marche region. Produced with a blend of Montepulciano, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot grapes, this wine stands out for its significant structure and remarkable complexity. In the glass, it appears austere and elegant, with a deep aromatic profile in which aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, and cherry stand out, enriched by nuances of liquorice, graphite, and balsamic notes. On the palate, it offers a firm gustatory progression, supported by soft and rounded tannins, leading to a persistent and pleasantly fruity finish, reflecting great evolutionary potential, supported by fermentation in stainless steel and ageing in new barrels.
Where it comes from
This Offida originates from the territories of Offida and Castel di Lama, located in the Marche region. The vines thrive at an altitude of between 200 and 250 metres above sea level. The clay and limestone soil provides the vines with optimal conditions to develop grapes of exceptional concentration and aromatic richness. These pedoclimatic elements, combined with the spurred cordon training system, play a decisive role in defining the structured character and distinctive elegance of the wine. The link with the territory is evidenced by the wine's history, first bottled in 1998 and achieving its top appellation in 2011.
How it is produced
The production of Ludi involves a manual harvest carried out in mid-October, with the grapes collected in small crates and cooled in cold rooms before reaching the winery. Vinification begins with fermentation in stainless steel tanks, accompanied by maceration on the skins for approximately 28 days to extract colour and structure. Subsequently, the wine matures for 18–24 months in new barrels. Only at the end of this ageing period are the different varieties blended. The process concludes with a further rest in the bottle for at least 3 months, as required by the production regulations, to reach the perfect gustatory balance.
