Description

The Sangiovese di Romagna Avi riserva is produced in the San Patrignano winery, founded in the late 1970s with the aim of creating a community based on solidarity. It began as a community for drug addicts, with the aim of helping and giving a home to those who had lost their way, with simple activities such as agriculture in contact with nature and the Rimini hills. Initially, it started with simple Sangiovese and Trebbiano table grapes, but over time and with the desire for self-sufficiency, the vineyards now extend for 100 hectares.

The San Patrignano Sangiovese di Romagna Avi is The maximum expression of the quality of the Sangiovese produced in San Patrignano and is dedicated to AVIncenzo, creator of the community. Wine production is a process that lasts all year round and the harvest is nothing more than the result of the efforts and attention of the community's young people to the vineyards throughout the vegetative cycle. The grapes are harvested in mid-October and, as soon as they are picked, they are immediately taken to the cellar to be pressed and, after destemming, softly crushed. The must is transferred into steel tanks for a slow fermentation with periodic pumping over and a long maceration on the skins. The wine is then left to rest and age for 18 months in traditional 30-hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels. Before being sold, it ages for a further year in the bottle. The result is an elegant wine with the structure and tannic texture typical of Sangiovese DOC di Romagna.

Who knows if Vincenzo Muccioli, back in 1978 when he founded the San Patrignano Community, could have imagined that wine — the fruit of the vine — would come to represent Life in that place. Beyond the emotional and ethical aspect, the creation of so many outstanding wines, year after year, is the result of shared work between experts and those still learning. Mother Nature, with the unique vocation of the land, does the rest.

From vineyards to the cellar, from pastures to the dairy: a community dedicated to rediscovering oneself, preparing for the future, and living life to the fullest. In addition to wine, San Patrignano also produces baked goods, panettone, cured meats, and cheeses. Discover the Sanpanettone, lovingly made by the young people of San Patrignano, available on xtraWine.

We carefully select high‑quality raw materials to guarantee an excellent product, supported by a constantly monitored production chain. Within this chain, animals are treated with dignity, following the principles of non‑intensive farming that respects both nature and the environment.
