Description

Sweet white passito from Tuscany, 14% ABV, produced by Ornellaia. 0.375 l bottle, 2022 vintage. A wine born from the passion and dedication of Ornellaia, an icon of Italian winemaking. The harvest took place in the second half of October in three passes, striving at each pass to gather only the sweetest and most concentrated portions of the bunch. Vinification with fermentation in 100% new oak barriques at temperatures no higher than 22°C. Aged for 12 months in barriques, followed by a further year in bottle. A nose of great complexity where highly ripe notes of exotic fruit, peach jam, and honey are balanced by fresher notes of lemon and grapefruit. Deep golden color. On the palate, it is very rich, sweet, and ample with great fruit intensity. The rich sugar content is perfectly balanced by a lively acidity, concluding with a long and savory finish.

History
Tenuta dell'Ornellaia was founded in 1981, in a beautiful, unspoiled part of Tuscany. From the outset, the mission was to produce outstanding wines. Since then passion and dedication, coupled with a unique terroir and an extraordinary microclimate, have brought the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia's prestigious labels great success and recognition as one of the most important wineries in the world.

Vision
A little more than 20 years ago, a revelation: the future of Italian viticulture had to take a new enological path, in search of absolute quality. To achieve this goal, the proper place, proper time, and best people were needed. This led to the idea of the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, a place of infinite potential, cultivated with wisdom and experience by its "artists," who seek, with every vintage, a new masterpiece.

Philosophy
Production limited to the course of the year, harvesting by hand only after full ripeness, individual vinification for each vineyard, respect for a unique and precious terroir. These are just some of the choices made by Ornellaia, in a philosophy that has privileged quality from the very beginning. Harvest In the second half of October in 3 steps. Only the best and sweetest grapes are picked.
Fermentation temperature Max 22 °C
Wine making Upon arrival at the winery, each lot was pressed and fermented separately. After lengthy, gentle pressing and natural 1-night decantation, the various lots were fermented in 100% new oak barriques at temperatures of no more than 22°C. Upon reaching the desired sugar and alcohol levels, the fermentation was stopped. Malolactic fermentation was not carried out.
Aging After racking, the wines were aged for 12 months, after which the various lots were blended. After bottling, the wine was aged for another year before being marketed.
