Description
Massolino Barolo is grown in one of the finest locations in Serralunga d'Alba, a municipality in the province of Cuneo. The vineyard is characterized by marly limestone soil, composed of limestone containing a certain amount of clay. This particular type of soil is suitable for the production of wines with a powerful flavor and suitable for long aging. The Massolino family winery, thanks also to the passion of its founders, Giovanni and Angela Massolino, has grown steadily over the years, reinventing itself, and is currently one of the most important wineries in the area. Among the various wines produced by the winery is Barolo (DOCG), a complex and elegant wine with a long shelf life. Also known as the wine of kings, it is grown exclusively in the Langhe, a perfect area for growing Nebbiolo. Tasting Massolino Barolo, you can sense the character of its land of origin, its body and elegance; we are faced with a wine with an extremely complex flavor that manages to offer different sensations, a high-quality product perfect for satisfying even the most demanding palates. Confirming its importance, this wine has won numerous awards; the Barolo produced by the Massolino winery is synonymous with quality, a unique product to be enjoyed in the right company. Made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, it requires careful processing and aging; the harvest is carried out manually in the second half of October, the vinification, that is, the transformation from grape juice to wine through alcoholic fermentation and maceration takes place in about 2 weeks at temperatures ranging between 31 and 33 °C. The aging process also requires special attention. Specifically, it takes place in oak barrels for a minimum of 30 months. Further aging takes place in the bottle; for approximately 12 months, the bottles are placed in special rooms designed specifically for this final phase.

With tenacity and passion, we have been making wine since 1896.
Azienda Agricola Massolino Vigna Rionda is the dream of our great-grandfather Giovanni, who founded the estate in 1896. In those days, it was a traditional Langa farm, producing fruit and vegetables, raising livestock and making wine.
Our family is firmly at the helm of the historic estate that inhaled the vibrant air full of change of the late 19th century and navigated the tides of the first half of the 20th century. Today, we face the new challenges of the 21st century, in the capable hands of the third and fourth generations.
We are Massolino Vigna Rionda and we are writing a legacy with our wines. Read more
