Description

The history of Costasera Amarone della Valpolicella is rooted in a grape variety rooted in a land with varying altitudes, where the earth's aromas blend into the flavor of this wine like symphonic music. We are in the Valpolicella region of Veneto, where numerous hills produce extraordinary wines like this one. The soil has very particular structural qualities that epitomize the most significant traits of this Still Red, which embodies aspects of viticulture and oenology of remarkable value. The winemaking techniques used for the Masi Reserve, from which it originates, are based on a modular formulation that oscillates between the old and the new, making this wine a modern product with an ancient heart. The traditional drying of the vines is combined with advanced fermentation, where the wine's conservation systems ensure the preservation of one of the most intense aromas in the region. The composition of this DOCG Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva is a blend of a diverse grape variety: 70% Corvina, 5% Molinara, 15% Rondinella, and 10% Oseleta, grown in the east where slow ripening creates the best balance of all the components. The lands of the DOCG Amarone are dedicated to improvement and believe strongly in the potential of science and research, to the point of having entrusted the University of Chemistry of Parma with monitoring and analyzing the product, which was found to be particularly rich in a substance called "resveratrol." This element, present within the vine, has an antioxidant function which, by preventing the production of so-called free radicals, produces proven beneficial effects for human health.

Masi is a leading producer of Amarone and has always interpreted the values of the Venetian regions with passion. Its history begins in 1772, the date of the Boscaini family's first harvest in the prized vineyards of ‘Vaio dei Masi’, a valley in the heart of Valpolicella Classica. Since then, Masi has expanded, little-by-little, with successive purchases in the best historical production areas of the Venetian regions.

Masi produces first-class wines primarily from native grape varieties, using traditional methods that embody sustainability and continuous technological innovation. With more than two hundred and fifty vintages behind it, Masi has been owned since its inception by the Boscaini family, which today runs the company with the sixth, seventh and eighth generations.
