Description
Vis Muller Thurgau is produced in Trentino and falls within the DOC Trentino Muller-Thurgau denomination. The vineyards are located between the municipalities of Giovo and Meano, in the province of Trento. Here, the soil and climate conditions are favorable to the growth and vigor of the vine. Its first planting in the area dates back to the middle of the last century, thus discovering that it prefers this type of habitat. The soils near the Cembra Valley and the Meano hill are silty. The mixed porphyry composition makes them fertile and well-drained. The vineyards have south, southwest, and west exposures at an altitude of around 500 meters. The grapes are hand-harvested by selecting the best bunches in the vineyard. Harvest typically begins during the second ten days of September. La Vis uses the most sophisticated winemaking techniques to maximize the unique characteristics of the Muller-Thurgau grapes. Attention is paid to preserving the grape variety's characteristic aromas and fragrances. For this reason, the soft pressing takes place in an inert atmosphere. The aim is to avoid contact with oxygen, which could negatively affect the pressed grapes. Once this process has been completed, the must static decants. The subsequent fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then left to rest for approximately 6 months before bottling and being released for sale.

The logo takes inspiration from a decorative element that has always been present in the company and bears a highly symbolic value: a wooden bas-relief celebrating the founding of the winery in 1948 which represents the coats of arms of the municipalities of Lavis, Giovo and Meano, the very first protagonists in the association’s establishment. A timeless brand of great strength that puts the Winery and its founding values at the centre: cooperation, history and the bond with the territory.
The Lavis wine-makers cooperative traces its origins to 1850, when the Cembran family built the initial core of the current production unit. It was officially formed in 1948 by 14 independent wine-makers and grew in the years that followed, due partly to acquisitions of other producers, including mergers with the Salorno Cooperative of South Tyrol in 1969 and Cantina Sociale di Cembra in 2003.
