Description
Graci Etna Rosso is a DOC wine belonging to the Rosso Firmo (Red Still) category. It is produced with grapes from 100% Nerello Mascalese vines grown in the lush province of Catania, on the northeastern slopes of Etna, in Passopisciaro, one of the seven hamlets of Castiglione di Sicilia. These volcanic soils are brown, sandy and loamy, characterized by a neutral pH and are also very rich in iron and nitrogen. The altitude at which the vineyards are located, estimated between 600 and 1000 meters above sea level, guarantees the cool climate typical of the volcanic area, as well as the large temperature ranges, which are ideal for the ripening of this type of grape. Nerello Mascalese is a native red grape variety of Sicily, whose origins date back to the colonization of the island by the Greeks, which occurred way back in the 7th century BC. The tradition of cultivating these grape varieties has continued to the present day due to the uniqueness of the product, which is enhanced, among other characteristics, by a delicate yet defined bouquet with distinct aromas, provided by the volcanic soil. This fruit typically ripens during the last week of September and the first of October, when it is harvested. Graci's Etna Rosso, after fermentation, ages for 18 months in concrete vats and completes its refinement in the bottle for 2 months before being released for sale.

Grapes and volcano, these are the wines of Graci, unique interpreters of an extraordinary terroir. The winery is an old and majestic palmento skilfully restored by Alberto. Here, one part is occupied by the production structure, while another part, with cross vaults, still houses the old barrels and tools for wine production. Read more
