Description
What kind of wine it is
Remole di Frescobaldi is an elegant still red wine that authentically expresses the character of the Tuscany denomination. Produced by Marchesi Frescobaldi, this blend of Sangiovese and Merlot stands out for its fresh, harmonious sensory profile and extremely smooth drinkability. On the palate, it is soft, characterised by well-polished tannins and vibrant fruity hints of cherry accompanied by light spicy nuances. Its distinct gustatory cleanliness, achieved through precise fermentation in steel, makes it perfect for accompanying everyday meals with great balance.
Where it comes from
This oenological expression originates in the charming territory of Pelago, located in the province of Florence, in the heart of Tuscany. The vines grow at altitudes between one hundred and fifty and five hundred metres above sea level, an ideal climatic condition to guarantee the wine a distinct aromatic freshness and preserve the full integrity of the fruit. The historical roots of this production lie near the famous Villa di Remole, an emblematic place that preserves over seven hundred years of the Frescobaldi family's oenological history, active in these lands since the 1300s.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a careful selection of the grapes, followed by maceration in contact with the skins for fifteen days, designed to optimally extract the ruby-red colour and the structure of the wine. Alcoholic fermentation takes place entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, immediately followed by malolactic fermentation to give greater softness to the gustatory texture. Finally, the wine completes its journey with a five-month ageing in steel, followed by a further rest period of two months in the bottle before its final release onto the market.
History and facts
This famous wine originates in Pelago, near Florence, close to the historic Villa di Remole, where the precious archive preserves over seven hundred years of winemaking tradition of the Frescobaldi family, an icon active since the 1300s. This excellent classic production philosophy is interpreted with great mastery by the expert Nicolò D’Afflitto. This noble lineage and high profile are confirmed by the international awards for the previous vintage, such as ninety points from James Suckling and eighty-eight from Wine Spectator for this historic Tuscan winery.
