Description
What kind of wine it is
Granato is an organic red wine produced by Foradori in Trentino-Alto Adige, an authentic expression of the Teroldego grape in the Dolomite Vineyards. In the glass, it displays a ruby red colour, hinting at an aromatic profile defined by notes of cherry and blackberry, complemented by subtle woody nuances, thanks to fermentation in large open vats and ageing in oak barrels. On the palate, it reveals a broad structure, supported by a distinct mineral vein that guides the tasting towards a persistent and fruity finish.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Mezzolombardo, in the heart of Campo Rotaliano. The grapes grow on ancient pergolas divided into three distinct plots, rooted in alluvial soils. The geological matrix, rich in gravel and pebbles, ensures ideal drainage and encourages the concentration of the fruit. This unique environment allows the Teroldego grape to develop its density, imparting a clear identity and a marked savoury note to the wine.
How it is produced
The production process respects the integrity of the raw material. Fermentation takes place in large open vats, a technique that ensures careful management of aromatic extraction. Subsequently, the wine rests for twenty-four months in oak barrels, allowing structure and aromas to integrate perfectly. Bottling is carried out without filtration, a choice that preserves the authentic tactile consistency and expressive breadth of this profound red.
History and Curiosities
The 2023 Granato by Elisabetta Foradori takes its name from the pomegranate, celebrating its allure and shared Mediterranean origins. This proud pure Teroldego is born in the heart of Campo Rotaliano, from vines trained on pergolas in alluvial, stony soils. To preserve the grape’s authentic identity, fermentation in open vats is followed by a slow maturation of 24 months in oak and a bottling process that is strictly unfiltered. A masterpiece limited to 20,000 bottles, awarded 96 points by Wine Spectator.
