Description

What kind of wine it is

The Champagne Grand Cru V.P. Extra Brut by Egly-Ouriet is a striking wine, created from a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Crafted according to the strict Traditional Method, it stands out for its Extra Brut style, which enhances its firm structure and balanced acidity. In the glass, it displays a straw yellow colour with delicate pink hues. The bouquet is clear, characterised by precise aromas of cherry, strawberry and blood orange. On the palate, it offers a harmonious and vibrant sip, elevated by a deep aromatic texture that reflects a long and careful maturation process.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the Champagne region, from the vineyards of Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzenay and Vrigny. The estate is managed with an organic and sustainable approach, enhancing the expression of old vines. The soul of these plots lies in the chalky soils, which are able to reflect light, release warmth at night and ensure excellent water absorption. These natural conditions nourish the vines and translate into the glass as a vibrant minerality and a taut flavour profile, faithfully expressing the identity and character of each individual vineyard.

How it is produced

The production follows the strict Traditional Method, using only estate-grown grapes. The vinification of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay aims to preserve the purity of the fruit and the unique characteristics of the terroir. A key element is the long ageing on the lees, which lasts for seventy-two months before disgorgement. This extended period in the cellar shapes the wine’s structure, defining its Extra Brut style and consolidating its excellent acidity. With its clear profile, it is perfect at the table to accompany delicate starters, fish dishes, shellfish and cheese selections.

History and Curiosities

The exclusive Champagne Grand Cru V.P. Extra Brut by Egly-Ouriet celebrates the mastery of prolonged ageing, thanks to an impressive seventy-two months resting on the lees. This dedication gives rise to a wine of exceptional complexity, made exclusively from estate-grown grapes. Its deeply mineral character derives from the precious chalky soils, ideal for retaining solar warmth and ensuring perfect ripening. A truly award-winning masterpiece, capable of captivating the palate with its unmistakable bold structure.

A Champagne that represents its terroir: the vine and soil are found throughout this wine, thanks to old vines, a few winemaker's secrets and modern technology. Egly-Ouriet produces champagne only with grapes from its 11.5 hectares company's vineyards, the most important of which are in Ambonnay, the home of Pinot Noir, the others in Bouzy, Verzenay and Vrigny. Quality begins on this particular soil, made up of layers of chalk that reflect the sun's rays and release heat to the vines at night, allowing excess water to be absorbed and giving the grapes a particularly mineral taste.
