Description
What kind of wine it is
Brigaldara Amarone della Valpolicella Case Vecie is a still red wine of great structure, created from a blend of Corvinone, Corvina and Rondinella. An expression of Amarone della Valpolicella, it comes to life through the appassimento method, which intensifies its character. On the palate, it is enveloping, with a smooth tannic texture and well-integrated acidity. Its complex aromatic profile releases notes of red fruits, plum, cherry in spirit, sweet spices and cocoa. The long maturation in oak barrels gives it an elegant finish and encourages a profound evolution.
Where it comes from
The wine originates in Veneto, in the Valpolicella area north of Verona, a hilly landscape characterised by valleys and varied altitudes. The grapes grow in the Case Vecie vineyard in Grezzana, where an altitude of around two hundred and fifty metres and an eastern exposure ensure slow and steady ripening. This distinctive cool microclimate gives the wine a defined texture, preserving its natural precision. Brigaldara cultivates these lands following strict sustainable farming practices, with the primary aim of protecting and enhancing the rich local biodiversity.
How it is produced
Production begins in mid-October with the selection and manual harvesting of the bunches, destined for traditional drying in crates for about one hundred and twenty days. The subsequent red vinification involves prolonged contact between the must and skins. During fermentation, daily pump-overs and délestage promote optimal colour extraction. Once this phase is complete, the wine rests in barrels for forty-eight months, a lengthy maturation that defines its complex structure. This is followed by a final period to perfect the taste balance and harmonise the tannins.
History and Curiosities
Originating from the ancient Brigaldara estate, this Amarone takes its name from the Case Vecie vineyard in Grezzana, an oasis of biodiversity where the cool microclimate encourages optimal grape ripening. After careful drying of the grapes in crates and a lengthy ageing process, the wine releases elegant aromas of jam, sweet spices and cocoa. On the palate, it reveals a rich, enveloping structure with velvety tannins, ideal for enhancing red meat and game dishes during your most exclusive dinners.
