Brunello di Montalcino Poggio alle Mura 2019 from Banfi, a still red Tuscan DOCG, 100% Sangiovese. A complex yet immediately captivating wine, with notes of plum, cherry, blackberry jam, and raspberry, enhanced by hints of chocolate, cigar box, vanilla, and licorice. Aged for 2 years in French oak barriques and Slavonian barrels, followed by 12 months in bottle. Muscular and firm body, with very sweet tannins. Awarded 96 points by James Suckling, 91 by Vinous, 4 stars by AIS, and 94 by Wine Spectator. Perfect with red meats, game, and aged cheeses.
