Description
What kind of wine it is
Giovanni Blanc de Blancs Dosage Zero by Angelo Negro is a Traditional Method sparkling wine from Roero, made with Arneis grapes, an authentic expression of the region. In the glass, it appears an intense straw yellow with greenish highlights and a fine, persistent perlage. The bouquet opens with aromas of dried flowers, pear, and lightly toasted bread crust. On the palate, it reveals a creamy and crisp mousse, never aggressive, with notes of renetta apple and yeast leading to a mineral and slightly bitter finish.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown among the hills of Monteu Roero, in the heart of the Roero Arneis area. The vineyards are situated between 280 and 320 metres above sea level, with a north and north-west exposure that ensures gradual ripening, essential for preserving natural acidity. The sandy-limestone soils give the wine a savoury character and a vertical flavour profile. Dedicated to Giovanni Negro, this label marks an important milestone for the Angelo Negro winery, whose history in viticulture in this area dates back to 1670.
How it is produced
Production begins at the end of summer with the manual harvesting of the bunches. In the winery, the whole grapes are gently pressed, avoiding maceration and malolactic fermentation to preserve the purity of the aromas. The secondary fermentation takes place in spring according to the Traditional Method. Ageing continues for sixty months on the lees, a long rest that enriches the structure and adds complexity to the palate. The absence of sugar dosage enhances the identity of the Arneis grape, resulting in a taut, dry wine with excellent aromatic persistence.
