La Contralta

La Contralta is a Gallurese winery founded in 2019 with the aim of producing fine wines, elegant and long-lived wines from the island's traditional grape varieties. The production philosophy is under the banner of oenological minimalism and sustainable agriculture. Our wines come from grapes that are integrated sustainable cultivation. The project focuses on respect for nature, the landscape, the soil and the fruit. The name La Contralta comes from the place name of a small beach adjacent to the Palau estate.

The territory where our vines grow is Gallura, in the north-eastern part of Sardinia. A land characterised by the presence of granite that dominates the landscape with its rocks sculpted by atmospheric agents over millennia. This rock is the main element of the soil in which our vines grow and gives the flavour and minerality, a distinctive characteristic of our terroir. The cool mistral, the warm sirocco, the proximity to the sea contribute to an ideal climate for growing vines. Gallura is also the land of cork: immense oak forests from which the corks for our bottles are made.
