Chianti Classico is among the noblest wines in the world and bears the name of the land from which it originates, in compliance with strict regulations that safeguard its quality. Chianti boasts the DOCG denomination and is produced in an area of eight municipalities: Barberino Val d'Elsa, Greve in Chianti, San Casciano in Val di Pesa and Tavarnelle Val di Pesa in the province of Florence; Gaiole, Castellina in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Radda and part of the municipality of Poggibonsi in the province of Siena. Chianti Classico wine is characterised by a brilliant ruby colour and a deeply vinous aroma. The taste is dry and savoury, although it tends to become more velvety with time. Furthermore,Chianti Classico wine must age for at least 11 months and have a minimum alcohol content of 12°.
