History It would appear to have been introduced by the Greeks along the Tyrrhenian coast, at the time of the foundation of their colonies in the 6th-7th centuries B.C. This could explain the presence of synonyms such as Ellenico, Ellenica and Ellanico, later changed to Aglianico, during the Spanish domination (15th-16th centuries) for which the "double l" pronounced in Italian, sounds like "gli". There is also a hypothesis, that the name of the vine, derives from the Greek aglianos: clear and shining agliaia. Hence, clear and shining wines to distinguish it from other Campania wines such as Lacrima and Mangiaguerra, which are much darker. In addition, the ancient name 'glianico' may date back to the Spanish 'llano- piano/pianura' from which 'uve del piano' and thus originated from the domestication of wild vines ('Vitigni d'Italia' Scienza, Calò, Costacurta).

Description

Vinosia Taurasi Santandrea belongs to the brand of the lands of Taurasi, located in Irpinia. A particular territory where tradition, sun, and love for traditional cultivation of vines come together to create a one-of-a-kind wines Taurasi are extremely delicious and are called the Barolo of the South. The Vinosia winery works only with grapes grown on ancient native vines and is one of the best producers in Italy, capable of creating an opulent yet suave wine with a dense structure. Vinosia tells a family story dating back over a hundred years in an ancient land: Irpinia. Since 1887, a family of farmers has been pursuing their utopia: that of establishing a winery that would offer the world the flavors of the region. The idea was to produce wines that represented the organoleptic characteristics of the Irpinia grape varieties, located in a highly suitable location for wine production. The DOCG and DOC designations of the vineyards are only a confirmation of the vocation of those lands for the authentic flavors of its wines. Vinosia Taurasi Santandrea is the product of a farming culture that is identified in the quality of its wines, in the valorization of its experience, of its history, a refined tradition where the culture of natural values and working methods constitute the main commandment. The aromas this wine offers are intense sensations of morello cherry jam and sensory journeys between cinnamon and vanilla. The aromatic hints of anise and nutmeg are just the finishing touch to the rich and enveloping flavor that this tannic and well-balanced wine offers, captivating diners.

It was 2004 when Luciano Ercolino, picking up a long family legacy, founded his winery in Paternopoli.

We are in one of the most vocated and historical areas of Irpinia, where the 50 hectares cultivated with the native varieties, Fiano, Greco and Aglianico, insist. These serve as a solid basis for a project that aims to enhance the Irpinian wine tradition through a contemporary technical interpretation.
