It is not only the market that recognizes the quality of Juan Sánchez de la Torre's wines, but also his fellow citizens soon show him their appreciation: the cellarman is a restless but cultured man, a true son of his time, the Enlightenment, and offers a clear support to progress in education and the arts in Jerez.
Over time the winery grew and adapted to subsequent technical advances, but always respecting the tradition of production. More than a century after its foundation, the company records one of its highlights when, in 1887, the fourth generation of Sánchez Romate decided to create an exclusive brandy for family and close friends. This is how Cardenal Mendoza Solera Gran Reserva, the flagship brandy of the house, was born.
While maintaining its independence to this day, the history of the winery has experienced other important episodes. In 1909, for example, she was appointed supplier to the House of Lords of the United Kingdom; shortly afterwards, in 1917, she was appointed supplier to the Sacred Apostolic Palace of the Vatican. Today, the wines and brandies of Sánchez Romate maintain their international inclination, with a strong opening towards the five continents. Read more
