Description
What kind of wine it is
Monte Rossa Franciacorta Coupé Brut Nature is a refined zero dosage wine, produced using the Traditional Method. In this blend, the structure of Pinot Noir meets the finesse that distinguishes Chardonnay, creating a dry profile with pronounced minerality. The palate is enlivened by a fine and persistent perlage, able to balance freshness and creaminess. On the nose, notes of elderflower and white peach emerge, enriched by hints of the sea and a balsamic finish reminiscent of fresh almond.
Where it comes from
The grapes ripen on the moraine hills of Franciacorta, on soils of glacial origin. The land managed by Monte Rossa features a layered composition, where sand and clay give the wine a vibrant mineral tension. The vineyards are divided into fifteen different crus, cultivated with high planting density to maximise the concentration of aromas. The medium-aged vines offer a balanced fruit, essential for defining the rigorous and dry character of this non-dosage wine.
How it is produced
The process begins with a manual harvest followed by gentle pressing to extract only the finest must. Each plot ferments separately: part in steel tanks to preserve fragrance, while the rest matures in oak barrels to gain complexity. The blend, integrated with reserve wines, undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle as required by the Traditional Method. A long ageing on the lees of over twenty-four months gives this Franciacorta exceptional depth and perfect balance on the palate.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1972, the Monte Rossa winery produces the esteemed Franciacorta DOCG Coupé Brut Nature, a tribute to passion inspired by the world of motorsports. The name recalls the French term “couper” and celebrates the art of the cuvée: the oenologist Emanuele Rabotti masterfully blends Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes from fifteen different crus. This excellent Pas Dosé, aged for over twenty-four months, expresses a balsamic savouriness already awarded by AIS and Bibenda, offering the palate a pronounced contemporary freshness with unmistakable elegance.
