Description
What kind of spirit is this?
Essentiae Liquore di Erba Cedrina by Lunae is a 34% ABV herbal liqueur from Liguria, Italy, crafted using fresh lemon balm. It boasts a striking amber-yellow colour with green highlights and delivers an intensely aromatic bouquet of botanical notes, spices, and dried fruit. The palate is exceptionally broad, rich, and enveloping. This complexity makes the spirit highly versatile, serving beautifully neat as a classic herbal digestif or as a sophisticated base to elevate original cocktails.
Geographical origin
Originating in Liguria, Italy, this spirit benefits from a Mediterranean climate perfectly suited for cultivating aromatic plants. Lunae captures the coastal terroir using lemon balm, a botanical historically prized for its natural calming properties. Deeply tied to the local environment, the liqueur showcases a distinctive botanical intensity. The carefully selected raw materials create a truly regional profile enhanced by engaging spiced undertones.
How it is produced
Crafted using a traditional infusion method, the process begins with selecting fresh lemon balm leaves harvested during the peak of summer. These botanicals are expertly steeped alongside alcohol, water, sugar, and lemon zest to extract their delicate oils and achieve an authentic sensory balance. This precise technique ensures a profoundly persistent aromatic bouquet, allowing the pure essence of the herb to define the tasting experience.
History and Heritage
Crafted by Lunae Bosoni, this Ligurian speciality follows an ancient recipe using fresh lemon balm leaves harvested at the height of summer. Historically prized for its calming properties, this Mediterranean herb was traditionally used to soothe the nervous system. By reviving these ancient local practices, this Essentiae liqueur beautifully captures an authentic botanical tradition.

Cantine Lunae deepen their roots in the millenary hystory of this land and people, whose great vine-growing and wine-making tradition have inherited. Etruscans, or perhaps Ligures and then Romans, were the first to grow vineyards in the surroundings of the beautiful Luni, the "Moon City".
These lands have given birth to our vineyards, to our passion, to our wine!
