Description
What kind of wine it is
Hofstätter Michei di Michei Pinot Nero is a still red wine from the Dolomites Vineyards area that precisely expresses the elegance and complexity of Pinot Noir. On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe wild cherries, forest fruits, strawberries and redcurrants, enriched by hints of elderberry, undergrowth notes and a delicate spiciness. It displays a deep ruby-garnet colour. On the palate, it offers a medium body with surprising density, combining a rigorous structure with pronounced freshness. The texture reveals a fine creaminess and well-balanced acidity, leading the sip towards a pleasantly long-lasting finish.
Where it comes from
This refined wine is produced in Trentino-Alto Adige under the signature of the Hofstätter winery. The vines benefit from an excellent high-altitude terroir, situated between 790 and 850 metres above sea level, which gives the flavour profile a distinctive balance and vibrant freshness. The roots delve into complex soils composed of moraine deposits, porphyry and gravelly clay, elements that impart precision and character to the glass. Careful agricultural practices respect the natural rhythms of the plant, ensuring remarkable longevity that allows the wine to evolve beautifully over time.
How it is produced
During production, a portion of the grapes is destemmed, while another selection undergoes whole cluster fermentation. The must macerates on the skins for about ten days, promoting optimal extraction of colour and structural components. Afterwards, the wine matures in oak barrels, acquiring great depth. After the creation of the blend, ageing continues in oak barrels, before a suitable final rest. This evolution consolidates the aromatic texture, making the wine perfect for intense pairings with game, venison and mature cheeses, releasing every nuance after about an hour of decanting.
