Description

A still red wine from Tuscany, 14.5% ABV, produced by Gualdo del Re. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese, expressing the spirit of the terroir. Vintage 2019. Alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, where malolactic fermentation also takes place. Aged in 3rd and 4th-passage barriques for 12 months, followed by bottle aging for at least 3 months before release. The color is a deep ruby. The nose reveals pleasant fruity notes with hints of red berries and subtle spicy notes. The flavor is well-structured, lively, and harmonious with soft tannins, resulting in a pleasantly persistent finish.

In 2022, Gualdo del Re opened a new chapter in its history: the estate was acquired by Mauro Gestri, an entrepreneur from Pistoia.

The transition occurred whilst continuing along the path of excellence undertaken by Barbara Tamburini who, in the meantime, has become one of the most famous and recognised enologists in Italy and abroad.

The new business development program includes the restoration of some vineyards and the purchase of new plots. The recently acquired plots would be planted with massal selections of traditional varieties that resulted from extensive studies and analysis.

At the same time, modernization was organized for Il Ristorante, Il Casale and, especially, the Cellar, whose technical unit would be employed for a wider vineyard rationalization.
