Description

What kind of wine it is

Giuseppe Rinaldi Dolcetto d’Alba is a still red wine from Piedmont, a true expression of its denomination. Made from Dolcetto grapes, it displays an intense ruby colour, enlivened by purple highlights. The aromatic profile opens with floral notes of wisteria, iris and lilac, enriched by hints of mint and wild fennel. On the nose, there are also scents of ripe cherry, raspberries, pomegranate and tobacco leaf, with a touch of quinine on the finish. On the palate, it reveals warmth and a fresh, savoury verve, supported by a solid tannic structure and persistent hints of dark spices.

Where it comes from

The grapes ripen in the prestigious territories of Barolo, where the Giuseppe Rinaldi winery has operated since 1920. The vineyards are managed according to the principles of organic farming to obtain genuine fruit, under the oenological supervision of Marta Rinaldi. At the table, this red pairs naturally with flavourful meat dishes, pork cuts, game and cheeses. To fully appreciate the balance and integrity of its varietal character, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 14-16 degrees, preferably after an hour of decanting.

How it is produced

In the winery, production begins with a long maceration, essential for encouraging aromatic extraction and precisely defining the wine’s structure. Afterwards, the liquid rests in large barrels, a technical choice aimed at preserving the primary characteristics of the Dolcetto grape and delivering an elegant sip with strong personality. This rigorous ageing process imparts harmony and stability, ensuring splendid longevity that allows the wine to remain complex and vibrant for an estimated period of ten to fifteen years.

History and Curiosities

Since 1920, the historic Piedmontese winery Giuseppe Rinaldi has been cultivating its own vineyards according to the principles of organic farming to produce its renowned Dolcetto d’Alba DOC. Covering an area of just eight hectares, oenologist Marta Rinaldi leads a production that deeply respects the identity of the region. The 2024 vintage takes shape through a long maceration and ageing in large barrels, traditional techniques ideal for preserving its authentic varietal character. It is an elegant wine with a marked personality, boasting a longevity of 10-15 years.

An icon of the Barolo world, the Giuseppe Rinaldi winery is descended from a family of winegrowers and has stubbornly contributed to the excellent production of Nebbiolo produced in the vineyards of Ravera, Cannubi San Lorenzo, Brunate and Le Coste.

Nothing has changed in so many vintages, apart from the working support of Giuseppe's daughters, Marta and Carlotta, who, keeping the tradition intact with an eye on the future, have been able to tune traditionalists and progressive Barolo lovers.

The winery, one of the most classic in the Langhe, preserves the varietal character of the vines bred and cared for according to the dictates of organic farming, which are then subjected to long maceration and maturation in large barrels, to then give the glass elegant wines with strong character, full of history and sure of a bright future.
