Description

What kind of wine it is

Franz Haas Moscato Rosa is a still, semi-sweet and aromatic red wine, an expression of the Alto Adige region. Made from Moscato Rosa grapes, it stands out for its fresh style and elegant structure, able to harmoniously balance sweetness and lively acidity. On the nose, it releases a very intense floral and fruity bouquet, enriched by delicate notes of rose, cloves, cinnamon and orange peel. The colour is a brilliant ruby red with violet highlights. On the palate, it reveals a subtle tannic texture and a persistent finish, supported by an elegant minerality and a pleasant spicy hint.

Where it comes from

This wine originates from the mountainous landscapes of Alto Adige, from vineyards situated at an altitude between 250 and 300 metres above sea level. The soils, facing south and south-west, have a varied composition combining porphyry, sand, clay, silt and limestone. The vines benefit from constant ventilation, essential for reducing humidity and preserving the vibrant aromatic complexity of the grapes. The particular pedoclimatic conditions of this area give the wine a pronounced olfactory freshness and perfect structural balance.

How it is produced

The Moscato Rosa grapes are vinified according to the red wine method, with a short maceration on the skins to avoid extracting excessively astringent tannins. Fermentation is halted through a cold treatment, a key technique to maintain the natural sweetness of the fruit and its pronounced floral character. Afterwards, the wine matures in stainless steel tanks, a choice aimed at preserving the original fragrance and definition of the aromas. The result is a clear sip, characterised by fragrant fruit and well-balanced spiciness.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1880, the Franz Haas winery has pursued an unwavering quest for perfection for seven generations, skilfully blending science and passion. This elegant Moscato Rosa Alto Adige DOC embodies the family's philosophy, enhanced by the unmistakable style of oenologist Stefano Tiefenthaler. The vineyards are situated between 250 and 300 metres above sea level: here, constant breezes prevent humidity and preserve the incredible aromatic complexity of the fruit, offering a deeply distinctive experience encapsulated in the 0.5-litre format.

Franz Haas is not just a winery, it is not just a brand.
