Description
Calvados VSOP Pays d'Auge, from Normandy, France, 40% ABV, produced by Christian Drouin. A spirit that tells the story of a family dedicated to the art of distillation for three generations. The VSOP is aged in small barrels, old Bordeaux wine barrels that are toasted and often rinsed with cider before being reused for calvados. The blend also includes some aging in old sherry, port, and Banyuls barrels, which adds smoothness and complexity. On the nose, it offers a subtle blend of sweet cider, baked apples, gingerbread, vanilla, and cinnamon that evolves towards notes of almond and beeswax. Light amber in color. On the palate, this calvados is smooth and generous, with flavors of Tarte Tatin and a fruity apple finish. A unique sensory experience, ideal enjoyed neat or as an ingredient in refined cocktails.
