From the mid-19th century, 5 generations back, there are traces of vines in this small family property in Colombier in the Dordogne. At first the grapes rubbed the production of cereals and dairy cattle and, in 1935, Amédée Roche founded with some winemakers Monbazillac wine cooperative. In 1968, Christian Roche's parents made their first bottling at the Domaine de l'Ancienne Cure. In 1984, he inherited part of the family property and settled there as an independent winemaker five years later.
Today the vineyard, in conversion to organic farming, covers 45 hectares on the denominations Monbazillac, Bergerac and Pécharmant. The dominant grape variety - almost half of the vines - is Semillon, followed by Merlot, Merlot, Muscadelle, Sauvignon and Cabernet.
After a winemaking, Christian Roche had an awareness: to overcome himself, he had to return to the foundations, that is, to the earth and the plant to produce beautiful grapes. This desire for renewal allows the production of high quality wines, such as the Extase and Abbaye cuvée. Read more
