Description

What kind of wine it is

De Loach Winery Pinot Noir California Heritage Reserve is a still red wine that appears in the glass with a bright ruby red colour. On the nose, it reveals floral notes of rose, followed by distinctly fruity tones reminiscent of strawberries, cherries and raspberries, enriched by spicy nuances and candied orange peel. On the palate, it offers a harmonious and smooth sip, perfectly consistent with the olfactory profile, leading to a long and excellent persistent finish.

Where it comes from

This Pinot Noir originates in the heart of California, more precisely in the Santa Rosa area, in the United States. The Californian territory offers ideal conditions for this grape variety to express an authentic style and an intoxicating aromatic profile. The unique characteristics of the area of origin contribute to giving the wine its characteristic balance and the richness of ripe fruit.

How it is produced

The De Loach winery vinifies the Pinot Noir with care to preserve the essence of the grape variety and the identity of the terroir of origin. The production process aims to enhance the smoothness on the palate and the aromatic precision of the red fruits. To best appreciate its structural qualities and overall harmony, it is recommended to decant for one hour before tasting.

From this winery
As a pioneering producer and winegrower of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Zinfandel in Sonoma’s Russian River Valley, DeLoach Vineyards has been experimenting with and perfecting the best combinations of soil, rootstock and clones for over four decades. In 2003, the Boisset family brought two generations of sustainable winemaking experience from Burgundy, France to California’s Russian River Valley and started transitioning the 17-acre estate vineyard to organic and Biodynamic farming, creating by pulling up the vines and planting cover crops to revitalize the soil. During the replanting, DeLoach partnered with winegrowers equally dedicated to and passionate about eco-friendly farming practices and producing high-quality wines — relationships that continue today.

When this Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and Zinfandel Great were purchased by the scion of a prominent French wine company, the focus of the operation became less "mainstream," not more. Like Benziger, Deloach celebrates its organic and Biodynamic certified status and encourages visitors to learn more in its garden experience and tasting flights.

Owners Suzanne Hagins and Chris Condos are so committed to making wine only from certified organic grapes, they say so right on the label! It’s not as common as you might think. Both career winemakers, this husband and wife team have managed to put together a little garden oasis amid the apple trees of Sebastopol. They also pour organic cider, with wine fresh from the tap at their stylish tasting room. Look for their new certified organic wine, too — which means no sulfites added — when it’s available, as well as a Biodynamic wine or two.
