Description
Still red Barbaresco DOCG, 14% ABV, produced by Cogno. 100% Nebbiolo. 0.75 l bottle, 2021 vintage. A Barbaresco that embodies the elegance and structure of Nebbiolo di Langa, with a winemaking process that enhances its unique characteristics. The Elvio Cogno winery, following in the footsteps of maestro Elvio, continues to produce wines that reflect the family's history, preserving the traditions, style, and flavors that the Langa region expresses through its grape varieties. Temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, automatic pumping over, 20-day post-fermentation maceration with submerged cap. Aged 12-14 months in large Slavonian oak barrels and 6 months in bottle. Ruby red with light garnet highlights. Particularly fine on the nose, harmonious and complex, with aromas of ripe small fruits and violets, typical of Nebbiolo, with sweet spicy hints. Enveloping tannins, great elegance and excellent length on the palate.

The Cogno Winery produces the principle wines of the Langhe. The winery owns about fifteen hectares of vineyard property in Novello, one of eleven townships in the province of Cuneo in which Barolo DOCG production is allowed.
The hills are world-renowned for their history, culture, and beauty, and they were recently recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage.
In the footsteps of its founder Elvio Cogno, today Nadia Cogno and Valter Fissore direct the winery with four generations of winemakers and vine growers, dedicated to obtaining excellence that begins with the unique terroir to create wines that are famous throughout the world for their elegance, texture, and balance. | Story | Completing the production range is another great expression of the Nebbiolo grape variety: like the other Casa Cogno wines, Barbaresco is elegant and structured, but with a great autonomy of character. Not a Barbaresco that wants to imitate its cousin Barolo, but a wine that sees its full and strong identity respected, in the vineyard and in the cellar. This is the countertrend bet of a Barolo producer who has approached Barbaresco, when he usually keeps his distance, seeing the opportunity to measure himself and confront himself with a historic wine, which is also the maximum manifestation of the Langa territory. This wine was born from the precious collaboration with a friend and producer from Neive, who allowed the Cogno family to embark on this new, small adventure. |
