Description

Brunello di Montalcino is produced in the renowned Cantina di Montalcino, a farm nestled in the verdant Siena hills that has been producing the famous Brunello di Montalcino for over 40 years and is still the only cooperative producing the celebrated wine. The organoleptic characteristics of the full-bodied Brunello di Montalcino are due to the unique terrain of the small Sienese town of Montalcino, bordered by Mount Amiata and the Orcia, Asso, and Ombrone valleys, which create four slopes with different soil and climate conditions. The celebrated Brunello di Montalcino is produced with 100% Sangiovese grapes, an ancient grape variety of Etruscan origin. The grapes used to produce Brunello di Montalcino come from different vineyards selected on each of the four slopes that characterize the Sienese town's territory. As per tradition, only healthy, ripe grapes are harvested, and the winemaking process follows strict guidelines that include maceration on the skins for 15-20 days, enhancing the Sangiovese's full-bodied and powerful flavor. The wine rests in the cellar's basement and ages for two years in oak barrels and barriques. Brunello, produced in the municipality of Montalcino, boasts the prestigious DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garanzia) designation. Brunello di Montalcino is a wine that embodies the softness and sinuosity of the Sienese hills, the firmness of the Sangiovese grape, and the expert winemaking tradition of the people of Montalcino, giving us a still red wine with an unmistakable aroma and full flavor.

Cantina di Montalcino was founded in 1970 by a small group of winemakers. Many of their families still contribute their grapes, continuing to ensure the success of the winery. Their vineyards extend across the four quadrants and guarantee the production of great quality, characterful wines, vintage after vintage.

Cantina di Montalcino is located about 35km from Siena, right opposite the Sienese hilltop town of the same name, surrounded by meadows, olive trees and the beautiful vineyards of the Val di Cava, along the extraordinary Eroica route.
