Description
What kind of wine it is
Bel Colle Moscato d’Asti Turna Lunga is a sweet aromatic wine that expresses the authentic character of Piedmontese Moscato Bianco. In the glass, it reveals a fresh and fragrant style, where natural sweetness meets lively acidity and delicate mineral notes. The sensory profile opens with intense hints of white flowers, accompanied by aromas of ripe peach, apricot and melon, offering a clean finish ideal for pairing with cheese and fine pastries.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown in Turna Lunga, in the municipality of Verduno, in a splendid amphitheatre on the Barolo hills in Piedmont. Here, historic vines planted in 1961 face steep slopes and optimal altitudes that favour gradual ripening of the bunches. The calcareous-sandy soil, enriched with clay, gives the harvest an innate finesse. The agronomic management respects natural rhythms through mulching, the exclusive use of organic fertiliser and green manuring with legumes, completely excluding the use of herbicides. This approach is combined with a deliberately limited yield, designed to maximise the aromatic expression of the variety.
How it is produced
The grapes are hand-picked in August using dry ice to lower the temperature of the bunches and preserve their quality. In the winery, oxygen-free vinification rigorously protects the integrity of the primary aromas. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, a process activated exclusively by indigenous yeasts taken from the vineyard. In the final stage, careful ageing on the lees for two months enriches the body of the wine, consolidating its harmonious balance and vibrant freshness.
History and Curiosities
Turna Lunga represents the historic soul of Bel Colle, a vineyard planted in 1961 by grandparents Egidio and Angela. On this Piedmontese hill, characterised by altitudes of up to 360 metres and slopes of 35%, the hard work of farming is transformed into excellence. The old vines, tended by hand and harvested manually, yield a limited production of Moscato d’Asti DOCG. The result is a wine with vibrant aromas, capable of delighting the palate with sweet and fresh notes of white flowers and peach.
