Description

Avignonesi's Nobile di Montepulciano is produced at the winery, which bears the name of the historic Tuscan family originally from Provence, founded in 1974 in the noble town of Montepulciano. The turning point for the winery came in 2009 when Virginia Saveries acquired the company to reclassify and downsize it. Today the winery has grown to 175 hectares divided between Montepulciano and Cortona, becoming one of the leading companies in biodynamic viticulture in Italy. The union of one of the most diverse terroirs Precious wines with sustainable and pure viticulture has led the company to be one of the most appreciated realities in the Tuscan and Italian panorama.

The Nobile di Montepulciano is one of the oldest wines in Italy and the first to obtain the DOCG, and that of Avignonesi combines tradition with an organic vision. One of the facets of the Tuscan Sangiovese, with the clone called Prugnolo Gentile, whose grapes are harvested between mid-September and early October on mainly calcareous soil with quantities of sand and clay, given by marine sediments. From harvest to arrival at the cellar, located on the Lodola estate, the grapes are preserved as much as possible to avoid any type of external intervention and safeguard the berries as much as possible. The vinification is very delicate, in fact each batch is fermented and aged separately to maximize the peculiarities of the grapes. The fermentation is spontaneous and lasts about 30 days with maceration on the skins. The aging, which takes place once the final blend has been assembled, takes place partly in 500-liter Slavonian oak barrels and partly in 225-liter barriques for a total of 18 months for a wine with great aging potential.
