Description
Still red wine from Tuscany, 13.5% ABV, produced by Argentiera. 0.75L bottle, 2023 vintage. A wine made on an estate with vineyards close to the coast and located at some of the highest altitudes in the appellation. A blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Petit Verdot. After destemming and a gentle pressing, all the varietals were vinified separately. Fermentation and maceration took place in steel tanks for approximately 15-20 days at a controlled temperature no higher than 28°C. Half of the wine was then transferred to used 225L French and Hungarian oak barriques, where it completed malolactic fermentation and was subsequently aged for approximately 8 months. The other 50% of the wine was aged in stainless steel tanks. The final blending was then carried out, followed by bottling. On the nose, hints of wild berries, caramom, and pepper. Ruby red in color. On the palate, it is balanced, with well-polished tannins and a savory finish.

The name Argentiera derives from ancient silver mines, whose traces are preserved by the history ’s pen since the Etruscans. The Etruscan civilisation developed the peninsula’s first metallurgy, and their far-trading ships brought the art of metalworking to the remote corners of the flourishing archaic Greek settlements.
The estate extends over 153 hectares and embraces a one-of-a-kind biodiversity, a fundamentally important biological mosaic that allows the vineyards to flourish to their optimum extent, protected from insects, harmful animals, and climate-change stress. Read more
