Areas of cultivation	Black berry variety of North African origin, similar to Grenache, spread for centuries in Languedoc (southern France) and Corsica, where it prevails. It is resistant to drought and is very productive. In the 1950s, Algeria, which was constitutionally part of France, was a major producer and the wine that was obtained was used to cut the French one, especially in Burgundy. Even today Cinsaut is very important in Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon and Algeria. Italy is probably present in the area of Brindisi (Apulia) with the name of Ottavianello.
Characteristics of the wine obtained from this grape variety	It is ideal for the prudence of rosé wines; In the Rhône is authorized as part of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape, although it is not very used. If grown with high yields, it produces a fairly simple wine, while yields are lowered (under 40 hl / ha), the product is more intense with interesting aromas.
