The young company Le Casematte, is the culmination of the dream of its founder Gianfranco Sabbatino, now a "prisoner" of love and unbridled passion for the fruits of the vine. The company is located in the beautiful place of "Stretto of Messina", in the area of Faro Superiore and owes its name for the presence of two blockhouses and small forts used as shelter sentries dating back to the 2nd World War placed to defend the territory.
The total extension of the vineyard is about 4 hectares in which are planted variety of Nerello Mascalese and Cappuccio, Nocera and Nero d'Avola in the percentage covered by Faro's DOC, the Faro is a small DOC recognized in 1976, whose total size does not exceed the 30 hectares. The entire technical aspect is entrusted in the winemaker Fabrizio Zardini, originally from Cortina d'Ampezzo but now has been working with several wineries in the island.
