Monte dei Roari farm is located on the hills of Valeggio sul Mincio, in the locality of Mamaor, in the area of Custoza and Bardolino.
Alessia Bertaiola took it over in 2007, after having gained various experiences working in the Quality Control and Research and Development sectors of some big brands in the large-scale distribution and food industry. Awareness of the quantity and type of products extraneous to grapes used in conventional oenology led Alessia to immediately undertake a path of biological conversion.
At present the vineyard area of Monte dei Roari is about ten hectares, fragmented into many small plots, on morainic deposits that, depending on the area, have clayey, calcareous or ferrous soils. Very poor soils, almost inert, which force the vines to develop a natural resistance, favored also by the presence of portions of forest that guarantee a better biological balance.
The vines, bred mainly in the Veronese arches, are Trebbiano, Garganega, Tocai, Malvasia, Corvina, Rondinella, Rossanella and Fernanda (local variety of Cortese grape) and Merlot, with white grapes on calcareous clayey soil and red grapes on ferrous soil.
