Description

The amphitheatre. In the Roero, in Vezza d'Alba, to the left of the Tanaro river, the concave hill of Valmaggiore is one of the best witnesses of origin and quality. As early as the mid-19th century, the Nebbiolo grapes produced in its rows dictated the price for the entire territory. In the 1990s, the encounter with Valmaggiore was like love at first sight for Luciano and Luca. Not only because of the history and the long viticultural tradition, but for the particular uniqueness of its sandy soils combined with the microclimate.

‘Everything by hand. Our Valmaggiore is an amphitheatre facing the sun, with full exposure. It runs from west to east via the south. Here, nature is rich and lush. The soil is soft and sandy, the location extreme. Already in the planting of the vineyard, respect for nature and traditions were strategic, and are so every day when we cultivate row by row by hand, when we harvest the ripest grapes, when the cultivation operations make the vineyard a laboratory of good and original fruit. Nebbiolo in the Roero.

All around is the Roero, an area of impervious hills with great varietal and agronomic richness, not just viticulture. Here Nebbiolo is Elegance! And we, as in the past, convinced and proud, wish to express with our Valmaggiore the grace and refinement of Nebbiolo. Only after years of slow and silent evolution is Nebbiolo known to give its best characters. Our Valmaggiore is also one of the protagonists of the ‘sibi et paucis’ project.

Profumo

Perfume

This wine displays aromas of red cherries, pomegranate and flowers on the nose.

Gusto

Taste

On the palate, it shows good balance with firm and refined tannins. Its aromas of white flowers, jasmine and hibiscus give it a je ne sais quoi of exoticism. At times, Nebbiolo's elegance and carat reminds us of certain Pinot Noirs from Burgundy, and this is precisely the case with this Valmaggiore, whose origin enhances this peculiarity.

"Le Garagiste". Our story started in the 70s in our Family garage and since then it's been brought forward with heart, commitment and much presence of mind. From the simple things, Sandrone's philosophy was born. Today as much as yesterday, but with stronger and solid roots, we keep on doing our work well.

Since the first beginning of his story, Luciano Sandrone has always had a clear philosophy of quality in mind, which has always been fully shared with his wife Mariuccia, his brother Luca and his daughter Barbara. Year after year this philosophy has been refined.

Story The Valmaggiore vineyard in the Roero hills, on the left bank of the Tanaro river, is one of the best historic sources of origin and quality. Already in the nineteenth century, the Nebbiolo grapes grown in this vineyard were so highly regarded that they dictated the price for the entire territory. In the 1990s, the first sight of Valmaggiore was like a bolt of lightning for Luciano, Luca and Barbara: they fell in love at first sight. This was not only for the history and the long viticultural tradition, but also for the particular uniqueness of those sandy soils combined with the microclimate.
