Description
What kind of wine it is
San Giovenale Habemus White Label Red is a still red wine born from a careful blend of grapes Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Tempranillo. An authentic expression of the Lazio region, it displays a concentrated ruby colour with violet hues. On the nose, it offers a deep aromatic bouquet, characterised by wild berry jam, morello cherry, tobacco, resin, menthol, liquorice, graphite and vanilla. The palate is soft and enveloping, supported by vibrant freshness and clear savouriness, leading to a long and persistent finish.
Where it comes from
The wine originates in the evocative Tuscia, between the Cimini and Sabatini Mountains, where the San Giovenale vineyards grow on clay soils rich in stones. The bush-trained vines, cultivated at high density to keep yields low, thrive between three hundred and four hundred metres above sea level. The excellent exposures and breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea ensure a dry microclimate, ideal for ripening the grapes. These soil and climate conditions enhance concentration and provide perfect structural freshness.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a rigorous manual harvest. To preserve aromatic integrity, crushing and destemming take place within an hour of picking, followed by fifteen days of fermentation. The wine then rests for twenty months in wooden barrels, enriching its complexity, before a final six-month maturation. This meticulous process ensures a very limited production, structured to offer excellent longevity over time.
