Description

The Grande Cuvée Luigi Moio is a combination of the three white grape varieties – Greco, Falanghina and Fiano – which are produced at Quintodecimo in their mono-varietal version. In this wine each of the united parts gives a higher contribute to their simple sum, creating the conditions for an olfactory and gustative amplification of the wine and for a better longevity.

Wine has conditioned my entire life. It is an association that began at birth in the winery of my father, Michele Moio. This historic Campania producer in the 1950s relaunched Falerno, the famous wine dear to the ancient Romans. Home and wine cellars were the same; my father, as if it were a game, had been engaging and involving me in his magical world since I was a child. So, quite naturally, I took up the study of oenology, and my particular inclination for study and passion for scientific research led me to a research centre in Burgundy, where from 1990 to 1994, I delved into the scientific aspects of wine aroma.

Those years in France were fundamental, not for acquiring new knowledge but for discovering a fantastic world, coinciding with the idea of a wine I had always had. This new vision of wine significantly strengthened me, a passion I began to experience with great enthusiasm. When I returned to Italy in July 1994, the urge to do was unstoppable, and as time went by, I felt an ever more vital need, both intimate and inner, for a space of my own where I could freely express my creativity, my ideas and my love for wine. Finally, in 2001, together with the extraordinary passion of my wife Laura, the dream began to take shape, giving life to an actual 'life project' that gradually led to the birth of Quintodecimo. Today, Quintodecimo is a handkerchief of land nestled in the green Irpinia region of Campania, where, in joyful harmony with nature and its enjoyment, Laura and I have realised the fantastic dream of living in the vineyard we planted, with the strong ambition of giving life to great wines that are the purest expression of the crus of origin.
