Description

What kind of wine is it

Marie Demets Champagne Blanc de Blancs Harmonie Extra Brut is a Champagne that precisely expresses the distinctive qualities of Chardonnay. In the glass, it displays a straw yellow colour with bright golden highlights, enhanced by a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, it reveals a clear profile, where intense floral aromas blend with delicate notes of exotic fruit. On the palate, it is fresh and harmonious, able to balance savouriness and softness, finishing with a persistent and refined aftertaste.

Where does it come from

This Blanc de Blancs is produced in France, in the heart of the renowned Champagne region. The unique characteristics of the terroir are reflected in the production philosophy of Marie Demets, which aims to enhance the distinctive traits of the grapes. The geographical origin ensures this Champagne has a pronounced aromatic clarity and a well-balanced, measured sip. The result is a glass with an elegant profile, capable of conveying the authentic identity of the soil and climate from which it originates.

How is it produced

Production strictly follows the principles of the Traditional Method, an essential process to impart depth and structure. The Extra Brut dosage preserves the dry character of the cuvée, enhancing the natural freshness of the Chardonnay. This tension and balance make the Champagne perfect for pairing with fish dishes and shellfish, and it also proves ideal alongside sushi or delicately flavoured starters.

The Demets family produces and markets its Champagne at Gyé sur Seine in the heart of the Côte des Bar. In the 1950s, André Brément (the family's maternal grandfather) started to plant vines while he was still a vineyard worker. Slowly but surely he developed his own operation. In 1972, Alain Demets, his son-in-law, began working in vineyard management, and later took over the family estate of his wife Marie to create Marie Demets Champagne. A few years later, Alain began to make their wines into champagne and to market them 1987 was his first vintage.

Today, the family tradition continues under the leadership of their son Peter. At present, the vineyard covers 10 hectares with an annual production of 90,000 bottles.
