Description

The stunning 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Madonna Delle Grazie is a protagonist of the vintage. This growing season has produced a collection of iconic wines, and to my palate none is more impressive than this. This is the first time Alessandro Mori has produced a Riserva. He did so because he "fell in love with a single barrel" as he puts it. That botte was left to age for an additional year (for a total of 41 months) and once bottled, it produced 1,700 magnums and 66 750-milliliter bottles. A Limited Rare wine.

  • Start up year: 1974

The story of Il Marroneto began in 1974, in two small rooms of a historic building dating back to 1246. An old drying room for marroni (chestnuts), where the Mori family began, partly for fun and partly for passion, to produce its Brunello. Just a few bottles, whose purpose was to translate into aromas and flavours that culture of 'making wine', which was not yet the prerogative of bussines, but only the expression of a land, a tradition and a magnificently generous nature.

So 'playing with wine' becomes more than a game: it is a deep passion, a thread that guides Alessandro's choices. He decided, in the 1990s, to expand the wine cellar of Il Marroneto, realising an idea that eschews logic dictated by aesthetics tout-court but is firmly bound to those principles, in reality very simple and immediate, that the 'good practice' of making wine imposes.
