Perfume The aromas are enveloping, harmonious and deep, with clear spicy notes on first impact and fruity notes of raspberry, strawberry and ripe cherry. Pleasant harmonies of wild flowers on the finish.
Taste In the mouth, the wine has great structure, fresh and with excellent acidity and great balance, with an enveloping tannic texture and flavours reminiscent of black cherry, blackberry and plum.
History Produced in one of the last archaic vineyards of the Langa, an open-air museum of the viticulture of yesteryear, over 100 years old, the grapes come from plants that have not been grafted and propagated by cuttings, which have therefore maintained intact over the decades all the original characteristics of Barbera. The vineyard, with excellent exposure and sandy-calcareous soils, located in Frazione Berri di La Morra, guarantees the natural protection of the vines from the Filloxera attack and gives the product an exclusive and unique look, which blends with intriguing simplicity the most typical suggestions of the vine with the characteristics given by a particularly favourable microclimate and altitude. The very low production per hectare guarantees an organoleptic concentration of rare intensity and richness, for a wine that is matured in oak barrels suitable for the slow development of primary aromas. Pleasant and refined, complex even when enjoyed young, it is a product that does not fear bottle ageing, expressing its concrete uniqueness even after many years.
Pairings This versatile wine goes well with starters, meaty sauces and also red or wild meat. It does justice to strong cheeses, savory or seasoned.

The Cogno Winery was formed in the footsteps of master wine maker Elvio and continues to produce wines that respect the history of the family today. They maintain, unaltered, traditions and styles that express the flavor and grape varieties of the Langhe.

The Cogno Winery produces the principle wines of the Langhe. The winery owns about fifteen hectares of vineyard property in Novello, one of eleven townships in the province of Cuneo in which Barolo DOCG production is allowed.
The hills are world-renowned for their history, culture, and beauty, and they were recently recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage.

In the footsteps of its founder Elvio Cogno, today Nadia Cogno and Valter Fissore direct the winery with four generations of winemakers and vine growers, dedicated to obtaining excellence that begins with the unique terroir to create wines that are famous throughout the world for their elegance, texture, and balance.
