Description

What kind of olive oil is this?

Olio Extra Vergine d’Oliva Casanova di Neri is produced in Tuscany from Olivastra, Leccino, and Correggiolo olives. This unfiltered extra virgin olive oil is mechanically extracted to preserve its natural profile. It offers a smooth and enveloping texture that balances a delicate fragrance with rich aromas, culminating in a pleasantly intense finish. Naturally rich in polyphenols and monounsaturated fats, it effortlessly enhances any dish.

Geographical origin

This oil originates entirely from Tuscany, produced from ten hectares of olive groves at the Casanova di Neri estate. These carefully tended plots provide the ideal environment for native olive varieties. The distinct territorial identity shapes its sensory profile, imparting a delicate fragrance alongside deep aromas. This precise origin ensures an authentic representation of the local agricultural character.

How it is produced

The process begins with a careful manual harvest, ensuring only healthy, intact olives are selected. To prevent any loss in quality, the fruit is milled and pressed daily. The oil is obtained exclusively through mechanical extraction, preserving essential minor constituents such as tocopherols. Left unfiltered, it maintains a high polyphenol content and a robust oleic acid profile, ensuring the natural intensity and integrity of the oil.

Casanova di Neri was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri to embark on a great adventure. Passionate about wine, Neri had long dreamed of making a great Italian red, and although the long-established wine zone of Chianti Classico was just on his doorstep, it was remote Montalcino and its austere Sangiovese wines that fascinated him. In May 1971, he bought Podere Casanova, changed its name to Casanova di Neri, and in consultation with some of Tuscany’s leading winemakers, immediately began work to restore the estate’s existing Sangiovese vines and plant new ones. In 1991 Giovanni Neri dies. His son Giacomo takes over the running of the winery.

In 2017 Casanova di Neri expands into hospitality with the inauguration of the Relais, a charming ten-room restored farmhouse amidst the vineyards, just steps from the winery. In the same year, Gianlorenzo Neri enters the family business alongside his father Giacomo and brother Giovanni.
