Description

The Sassi Chiusi, whose name derives from the characteristic stony soil that unites all the company's vineyards, is what in France would be called the "second vin". The only wine that represents the company in its totality being produced from grapes coming from all three vineyards: Bertinga, Adine and Vertine. The greater simplicity compared to the "big brother", the Bertinga, is the strong point of a wine that lends itself to a wide and heterogeneous range of combinations and occasions for drinking.

Gaiole in Chianti, literally the heart of Tuscan viticulture, is the cradle of both the Chianti Classico appellation and of some of the most renowned Super Tuscans. A unique mosaic of 3 amongst the best known cru vineyards of the area - Bertinga, Adine and Vertine - all of them located on the north part of the territory. Bertinga is a name, a place, a vineyard, and a wine. It is an ancient name, with origins in the mists of time, referring to 6th-century AD Lombard settlements, and in all likelihood to an owner named Berto. That name became Le Bertinghe, and, more recently, Bertinga.

Bertinga gazes out over Tuscany from atop its winecellar at 540 metres. At its feet are three vineyards, two grape varieties, and one exceptional terroir: Gaiole in Chianti. The vineyards are Bertinga, Vertine, and Adine.

The 2019 Bertinga Volta received the following awards:

- 99 points James Suckling
- 3rd wine Top 100 Wines of Italy 2022 James Suckling
- Top 10 Guide of the best 100 wines and winemakers of Italy by Corriere della Sera 2024
