The estate enjoys a privileged site, with its vineyards lying close to the shore yet at some of the highest elevations in the denomination, where sunlight, marine breezes, and views out over the Tyrrhenian Sea meld together into a limitless landscape of magnificent elements. An enchanted creation of nature, where the distinctive characteristics of each vineyard find their most harmonious and effective expression.

The name Argentiera derives from ancient silver mines, whose traces are preserved by the history ’s pen since the Etruscans. The Etruscan civilisation developed the peninsula’s first metallurgy, and their far-trading ships brought the art of metalworking to the remote corners of the flourishing archaic Greek settlements.

The estate extends over 153 hectares and embraces a one-of-a-kind biodiversity, a fundamentally important biological mosaic that allows the vineyards to flourish to their optimum extent, protected from insects, harmful animals, and climate-change stress.

Story The 2022 harvest officially began on 25 August, about a week earlier than Argentiera's historical average. The first bunches to be harvested were the Merlot from the Ceccosodo vineyard and the Vermentino, followed by the first Merlot grapes for Argentiera. During the last week of September, which marked the end of the harvest, the harvest moved to the estate's most suitable vineyards between 150 and 200 metres above sea level in the Altana area, the highest and most representative point of the entire estate, and featured Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes, destined for the production of Argentiera Bolgheri DOC Superiore.
Climate The 2022 vintage will be remembered as the hottest in decades and, as a result, required a great deal of effort to reduce the effects of rising temperatures and irregular rainfall, working on the plants' ability to respond in a balanced way to water stress and using the vine's natural ability to adapt to different climates. Soil management, fertilisation, leaf wall management and micro-irrigation enabled us to harvest perfectly healthy grapes without any signs of wilting, thanks also to the rainfall in mid-August (42 mm in total). Altitude: 180/205 metres above sea level. Vineyard exposure: north/north-west/west/south-west/south. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
