Description
A still red from the Aosta Valley, 14.5% ABV, produced by Anselmet in Villeneuve. Blend: 70% Petit Rouge, 25% Fumin, 5% Cornallin, 2023 vintage. A wine that expresses the soul of the Aosta Valley, with grapes grown at 750-900 meters above sea level. Aged in French barriques with bâtonnage. Among the many aromas this valley varietal displays, style, complexity, and elegance. Red fruits and spices immediately emerge, surrounded by a light smoky note, leading to violets, incense, and licorice. Bright ruby red. On the palate, it is straightforward, with a good interplay between softness and freshness, enhanced by a subtle spicy texture.

The Anselmets have been protagonists in the rediscovery and valorisation of forgotten indigenous grape varieties such as Petit Rouge, Cornalin, Fumin, Mayolet and Muscat. But they have also been courageous disseminators of International grape varieties such as Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay, Gamay and Pinot Grigio, which are cultivated and vinified according to an authentic Valdostan spirit.
Today, Anselmet cultivates around 10 hectares of vineyards; the production, totally manual in the vineyard as well as in the cellar, enhances the incredible variety and extraordinary personality of Valdostan wines, seeking to capture their changing and grandiose, elusive yet clearly territorial character.
